Private Pay Option
There are over 18,000 people in Illinois waiting for services and supports offered
by the Department of Human Services Developmental Disability system (DHS/DD).
Many of these individuals are adults with an existing developmental disability who
have graduated from high school and are waiting to receive services in a community
agency. State funding for these services is so sparse that it may be years
before any funding is available to them.
Southwest Community Services, Inc. (SCS) has introduced a private pay option for
families whose family member wishes to participate in the developmental training
services, but is not funded through the State DHS/DD system. The private pay
option can also include door-to-door van transportation, if needed. SCS has
openings in the developmental training program for families that are interested
in these services.
