Opportunities Unlimited (Developmental Traning II Program)
Opportunities Unlimited is a Developmental Training II program providing vocational,
work training, life skills, and case management services to adults with a developmental
disability. Individual progress toward achieving their annual
service plan goals by focusing on strengths. They learn how to improve their
deficit areas through their chosen individual training programs. The staff
works on a one-on-one
basis with the individual to help them identify realistic goals in order for them
to realize success.
Opportunities Unlimited offers small group (on-site and off-site) community life
experiences
including:
- Leisure and recreational activities
- Cultural and sporting events
- Movies, shopping and dining out
- Health and physical fitness
- Music expression
- Budgeting
- Basic academic and computer skills
- Current event discussions
- Employment preparation classes
Light factory work, subcontracted from business and industry, provides opportunities
for individuals to experience different types of employment and training programs,
earn wages, and assimilate in to the community. It also prepares individuals
for community employment, self-sufficiency and relationships
with authority and peers.
Admission Requirements:
- Age 21 or transitioning out of high school
- Diagnosis for developmental disability
- Medicaid funded approved, Home Based funding or private pay
- Able to self-medicate
- Behavior control sufficient for functioning without need of one-on-one supervision
- Behaviors not dangerous to self or others
- Can benefit from services
